Available in 2k or 4k.

Below are three examples of scans done with the GoldenEye II 4k Film Scanner. These frames have only been reduced in size to fit this web page, otherwise they are unretouched. If you would like to examine the full-sized file of any of these scanned film frames, click on the desired frame(s) to begin the file download.

GOLDEN EYE is a high speed and high resolution film scanner for motion picture film. The high performance makes the scanner the perfect tool for DI, Archiving, and Restoration.

  • True 2k or 4k resolution image sensor. The sensor is ready for easy upgrade to new sensors.

  • Frame synchronization, image stabilization, and Key-code are handled using image processing with a separate sensor.

  • High-speed film transport up to 12 fps with continuous movement for gentle handling of the film.

  • Old film that has shrunk due to age or storage conditions is handled without problems due to the Capstan Drive.

  Best Price/Performance On The Market
The GOLDEN EYE Film Scanner has one of the highest scanning rates on the market together with a very reasonable pricing. An important factor for the development team of GOLDENEYE is to use COTS (Commercial Of the Shelf) components as far as possible. The advantage is that the scanner performance can easily be increased when new components become available.

Two Scanners in One
The scanner is available in 2k, 4k or both. The flexibility of the
GOLDEN EYE allows the user to switch between different
sensors within minutes. With different sensors you make a choice of high speed (2k at 12 fps) or high resolution (4k at up to 6 fps). Thanks to the high flexibility the same scanner can be used for all film formats in your stock: 16 mm, Super 16, 35 mm and more.

Highest Flexibility
The GOLDEN EYE Film Scanner handles 16 mm, Super16 and 35 mm in the basic package. The design team has put a lot of effort into making the scanner easy to upgrade for other film formats. The synchronization, speed control and stability is handled by using an additional sensor and image processing. The result is that the GOLDENEYE is unique in its capability to handle any number of perforations and reading any type of code in the film.

No Operational Wear And Tear
GOLDEN EYE uses Capstan film transportation. The continuous movement of the film results in less wear of the film and perforations. Capstan movement also means that GOLDEN EYE handles old archive film that may be shrunk
or has damaged perforation.

Stability
The GOLDEN EYE Film scanner operates with the highest
stability. The scanner was originally developed for the military
market where high stability is essential.

Other Key Features
Key codes are automatically read by the camera and handled by the GOLDEN EYE software package. No need for complicated (and expensive) mechanical solutions that introduce operational failures and demand a continuous maintenance program. The system supports automatic cut list operations like batch recording based on key code, TC or frame number. An example is automatic scan from EDL cut list (ALE).

GOLDEN EYE is reliable, robust and well proven. The scanner has been used in the automotive and military industry for many years. The GOLDEN EYE software offers a large set of tools for image enhancement: RGB Color, Gamma, brightness, contrast and white balance, among others, are features that are easy to adjust using tools like Vector scope and Waveform.

The GOLDEN EYE film scanner is integrated with the powerful GOLDEN EYE software package for storage of digitized film sequences and is completely software controlled from the convenient menu system. All operations, including film positioning, scanner control and all operator selections, are under software control.

The system exports to all main output file formats on the market, including DPX, MPEG, multiple TIFF and Cineon. Processing different film types and formats are handled by easy configurations: Running Color or B/W, Positive or Negative film, 3, 4 or 6 perforations are just some samples
of the available possibilities.
